Bishop Obinna, Owerri Leaders Urged To Apologise To Ohakim

The former Archbishop of Owerri Catholic Archdiocese, His Grace, Anthony Obinna and political leaders in Owerri zone, have once more been urged to render an unreserved apology to former governor of Imo State, Dr. Ikedi Ohakim, for the alleged infractions committed against him in the build-up to the 2011 governorship election.

Archbishop Obinna and some political leaders in Owerri zone were alleged to have sponsored a destructive falsehood and blackmail against Dr. Ohakim, accusing him of flogging a Catholic Priest, which later turned out to be a well-orchestrated lie and propaganda which contributed to Ohakim’s regrettable ouster during the election.

Addressing newsmen in his country home, in Orlu local government area of the state, the chief executive officer of Dynamic Group of Companies, Comrade Darlington Uzoahia, made it abundantly clear that Archbishop Obinna, as a foremost cleric, “should practice what he preaches while presiding over confession sessions with Catholic faithful.”

Comrade Uzoahia stressed that the Catholic leader bears a moral burden until he apologises to Ohakim “for accusing him falsely, and organising black masses for him in almost all Catholic churches in the state, which ultimately jeopardised not only the political future of Ohakim, but also his life.”

He emphasized that Imo people are still in shock that a revered religious leader like Archbishop Obinna could allegedly allow himself to be used by some desperate politicians to truncate democracy in Imo State.

He said, “What Archbishop Obinna and some political leaders from Owerri zone did to Imo people in 2011 is tantamount to a rape on democracy. It is shameful, despicable and stands condemned by well-meaning Nigerians. It is even very absurd that up till now, Archbishop Obinna has not deemed it proper to apologise to an innocent man he terribly hurt.”

Former national president of Orluzurumee Youths, Comrade Uzoahia, also took a swipe at Senator Chris Anyanwu, for openly admitting in her memoir “Bold Leap” launched recently, that she organised and led the military onslaught backed by the federal government against Ohakim and Imo people during the 2011 governorship election in the state.

” That was the height of arrogance, insensitivity, and debased morals on the part of the conspirators. We know all of them and have their dossiers,” he said.

According to Uzoahia, “the fact that Chris Anyanwu, a woman and two time senator, could boldly tell the world that she was the ring leader of the gang that attacked democracy in 2011 in our state, speaks volume of the magnitude of the conspiracy hatched by Owerri zone elites against an innocent man. Is it a coincidence that all Ohakim’s conspirators come from Owerri zone? It is a shame,” he stated.

He highlighted that “2027 would be a different ball game. The mistakes of 2011 cannot repeat themselves. Imo people are now wiser.”

Comrade Uzoahia explained that it was wrong for anybody from Owerri zone to aspire to govern the state in 2027.

He elaborated that the injustice done to Ohakim and Okigwe zone must be rectified in 2027 for equity, justice and fairness.

The chief executive of Dynamic Group of Companies, however, commended the director of Adoration Ministry, Enugu, Reverend Father Ejike Mbaka, for boldly unveiling the truth that Ohakim did not even see the Catholic priest allegedly flogged by him, not to mention maltreating him.

“Mbaka shamed all those who organised black masses for Ohakim just because of political interests of Owerri zone. His exposition remains unchallenged to date. I even heard that they have ferried him to the United States of America, the Catholic priest in question, whom Mbaka said had told him pointedly that nobody flogged him neither did he even meet Ohakim at all. Obviously, they don’t want him to further expose their lies and wickedness. But, can they hide him from God? That is practically impossible,” Uzoahia submitted.
