Through research over the years, Heels and Tech has identified technophobia as the primary barrier keeping women out of the tech space.

According to Bisola Alabi, author of Jasmine Discovers Tech and founder of Heels and Tech., “Technophobia has perpetuated problems which should be extinct by now, thus we are determined to save our future by ending its scourge. We are a women focused brand, so we know that the woman of tomorrow is the girl of today,”

Her contributions to edtech have earned accolades from institutions like JCI (Junior Chamber Club), Donors for Africa, and Nasdaq Milestone Makers. Project 1,000,000 Girls into Tech aims to reduce the World Bank-acclaimed 300 million skill gap among women in the tech space.

Jasmine Discovers Tech is a skillful blend of fiction and facts for teen minds. Through basic information about technology and a thrilling journey with Jasmine exploring the vast possibilities that abound in the tech space, young minds are awakened to the possibilities within them. This approach helps dismantle mental blocks that reinforce glass ceilings and keeps girls out of STEM.

Working hand in hand with her extensive community of equally passionate alumni, Heels and Tech has embarked on the massive project of reaching 1 million girls.

They encourage girls to pursue their dreams, disregard societal inhibitions, and choose paths that fulfil them, whether well-travelled or not. The girls are exposed to contemporary and relevant information about tech and have the opportunity to ask questions.

Each session concludes with the girls feeling inspired and motivated to pursue their dreams through technology. To reinforce the experience, copies of Jasmine Discovers Tech are distributed to the girls free of charge, along with an additional copy for their school library.
