The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Borno State has reduced the cost of nomination forms for women and persons with disabilities (PWDs) to encourage wider participation in the upcoming fourth local government elections scheduled for December 13.

Addressing journalists in Maiduguri yesterday, the APC state chairman, Bello Ayuba, said the party had set the cost of councillorship forms for women and physically challenged aspirants at N250,000 and chairmanship forms at N1 million, representing a 50 percent reduction from the standard fees.

He said standard fees remained N500,000 for councillorship and N2 million for chairmanship.
Ayuba explained that the fee adjustment was made after consultations with party colleagues in other states such as Katsina and Lagos, and to account for the challenges posed by insurgency and economic realities in Borno State.

He emphasised that the move was aimed at ensuring inclusivity and giving women and persons with disabilities an equal opportunity to participate in the elections.
