The Borno State Police Command has urged residents to remain vigilant and security-conscious as Muslims enter the last ten days of Ramadan.
The police further advised residents to report any suspicious activities or individuals to the nearest police station, adding that they are intensifying patrols and surveillance across Maiduguri and other parts of the state, especially around prayer grounds and public gatherings.
This was contained in a statement issued to Journalists in Maiduguri by the State’s police public relations officer ( PPRO ) ASP Nahum Kenneth Daso, which was obtained by LEADERSHIP on Tuesday.
Daso said,” As the Muslim faithful enter the last ten days of the holy month of Ramadan, the Borno State Police Command urges members of the public to remain vigilant and security conscious while observing religious activities.
” This period often witnesses increased movements and gatherings, especially during Tafsir, Iftar, and night prayers. While the Command recognises the spiritual importance of this sacred period, residents are kindly advised to be mindful of their surroundings and take necessary precautions.
“Members of the public are encouraged to promptly report any suspicious persons, movements, or objects to the nearest police station or through the Command’s emergency contact lines.
“Parents and guardians are also strongly advised not to leave their children unattended, particularly in crowded places, places of worship, and public gatherings.”
He said following the directive of the Commissioner of Police, CP Naziru Abdulmajid, the Command will intensify patrols, surveillance, and strategic deployments across Maiduguri and other parts of the state to ensure the safety and security of residents throughout this period.
The PPRO added that the Command calls for continued cooperation and support from members of the public, as security remains a collective responsibility.
“The Borno State Police Command wishes all Muslim faithful a peaceful and spiritually rewarding last ten days of Ramadan,” the statement read.
