The order was contained in a statement issued by the permanent secretary of the Ministry, Yakaru Mustapha, which was obtained by LEADERSHIP on Wednesday in Maiduguri.

Mustapha, who added that the general closure will be observed from Thursday, October 23, to Friday, October 24, 2025, said schools were directed to resume activities on Monday, October 27, 2025.

The permanent secretary said the closure was being implemented to accommodate the 2025 National Immunisation Plus Days (NIPDs), organised by the Borno State Ministry of Health and Human Services.

“The vaccination campaign targets two key groups: Measles-Rubella: Children aged 9 months to 14 years. Polio: Children aged 0 to 59 months.

“All concerned proprietors, principals, and local government education secretaries are directed to strictly comply with the two-day school closure directive,” the statement added.
