Bournemouth Hold Man City As Arsenal End 22-Year Wait For Premier League Title

AFC Bournemouth held Manchester City to a dramatic 1-1 draw on Tuesday night to hand Arsenal their first Premier League title in 22 years.

The result left Arsenal on 82 points at the top of the table, four points clear of Manchester City, who moved to 78 points with only one match remaining this season. The outcome confirmed Mikel Arteta and his side as champions, ending the club’s long wait for the league crown since the famous “Invincibles” campaign of 2004.

Bournemouth produced a spirited display at the Vitality Stadium and deservedly frustrated Pep Guardiola’s men for long periods.

The home side took the lead in the 39th minute through Junior Kroupi after a swift attacking move. Adrien Truffert delivered the decisive pass and Kroupi fired a superb right-footed effort into the top corner beyond Gianluigi Donnarumma.

City dominated possession but struggled to break down Bournemouth’s organised defence in the opening half. Erling Haaland and Rodri both saw efforts blocked, while Djordje Petrovic made key saves to deny Jérémy Doku and Antoine Semenyo.

Guardiola reacted after the break by introducing Phil Foden, Savinho and Rayan Cherki in search of a response. City increased the pressure, with Nico O’Reilly forcing another save from Petrovic early in the second half.

Bournemouth, however, remained dangerous on the counter-attack. Rayan struck the post from close range on 62 minutes, while Evanilson and David Brooks both came close to extending the hosts’ advantage late in the match.

City eventually found a leveller in the closing stages as sustained pressure finally paid off, but Bournemouth refused to surrender. Brooks nearly snatched victory in stoppage time when his powerful strike crashed against the post after a rapid counter-attack.

The final whistle sparked celebrations in north London as Arsenal were officially crowned Premier League champions.

Arteta’s men have enjoyed a remarkable campaign built on consistency, defensive solidity and attacking quality, finally dethroning Manchester City after years of near misses.

For Bournemouth, the draw marked another impressive result in a season filled with resilient performances against the league’s top sides, while City were left to reflect on missed opportunities in a title race that slipped away at the final hurdle.
