Hundreds of youths staged a protest on Monday at the popular Freedom Square in Gusau, Zamfara State capital, causing heavy traffic gridlock in the area.
The protesters, comprising young men and women, were seen converging at the Freedom Square junction, a major intersection that links key routes within the metropolis.
In a video exclusively obtained by LEADERSHIP, some of the protesters were seen wearing white T-shirts with the inscription, “TINUBU MUST GO” while chanting solidarity songs.
The protest, which drew the attention of motorists and commuters, led to slow traffic as commercial tricycles, motorcycles, and cars struggled to navigate through the crowd.
Many of the women who participated in the protest were dressed in colourful hijabs and were seen lining the roadside, while the male protesters moved in groups, some on motorcycles.
A branded vehicle fitted with public address system was also seen at the centre of the gathering, with a cameraman standing on its roof to capture the proceedings.
As of the time of filing this report, the reason for the protest was not officially stated by the organizers, and security operatives were yet to react to the development.
Freedom Square has remained the epicentre of political activities and public demonstrations in Gusau since it was renamed by the present administration.
