As part of its cooperate social responsibility gestures, the BUA Group has awarded a N1 billion grant to the Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK), Awka, Anambra State for the building of student’s campus.
The chief executive of BUA Group, Abdulsamad Rabiu, represented by Dr. Uboh Udoh at the foundation laying ceremony at the permanent site of the UNIZIK yesterday explained that the gesture was part of the deliberate effort of the group’s chairman towards providing conducive academic environment in the country’s tertiary institutions.
He said the group also extended a similar N1 billion naira grant to selected institutions cutting across the six geo-political zones of the country under its this year programme.
On why the group subjected each beneficiary of the grant to a tedious bidding process, Udoh said any project earmarked for execution with the group’s grant must be one that would be beneficial not only to the entire members of the tertiary institution’s community but also to the host community.
LEADERSHIP learnt that the multi-purpose students building complex in addition to several other state of the art apartments was designed to have a 10,000-seat amphitheatre capacity.
In his speech, the vice-chancellor of the UNIZIK, Prof. Charles Esimone expressed gratitude to the chairman of BUA Group and the management for the gesture describing the award of the grant to the institution as a clear testimony of the deliberate commitment of the BUA chairman towards improving the quality of infrastructure and standard of education in the country.
He expressed gratitude to the BUA management for reposing confidence in the management team of the institution under his leadership.
