BUA Group has disbursed a total of N30 billion in cash rewards to 510 employees at its 2025 Night of Excellence and Long Service Awards, one of the largest employee reward initiatives by a Nigerian private sector company.

The ceremony recognised staff members for long service, loyalty and exceptional contributions, with beneficiaries spanning between five years and over 40 years of service to the Group.

Speaking at the event, founder and executive chairman of BUA Group, Abdul Samad Rabiu, said the awards were instituted to acknowledge the commitment, resilience and sense of shared ownership demonstrated by employees over the years.

Rabiu recalled that BUA began operations 36 years ago on a modest scale and has since grown into one of Nigeria’s most valuable listed enterprises, with a combined market capitalisation running into trillions of naira. He attributed the Group’s growth to the collective efforts of its workforce rather than capital or leadership alone.

According to him, every milestone achieved by the Group reflects the dedication of employees who believed in its vision long before tangible results emerged. He said BUA consistently regards its workforce as partners in a shared legacy and considers loyalty and professionalism values that deserve tangible recognition.

As part of the 2025 awards, N30 billion was distributed to 510 employees across various long service and excellence categories. Of this number, 41 recipients in the highest award categories received their awards on stage from the chairman.

The on-stage recipients included 16 employees who received N100 million each, nine who received N200 million each, seven who received N250 million each, three who received N500 million each and five who received N1 billion each. One special award recipient, Kabiru Rabiu, was also honoured for exceptional loyalty, leadership and long-standing contributions to the growth and stability of the Group, although the value of his cash award was not disclosed.

Other awardees had received their plaques and cheques ahead of the ceremony or are scheduled to receive them at their respective plants and operational locations nationwide.

Rabiu described the cash rewards as tokens of appreciation, noting that no monetary value can fully compensate for decades of dedication, personal sacrifice and belief in the company’s mission. He said BUA would continue to expand capacity, invest in advanced technologies and strengthen its presence across cement, food, sugar and infrastructure sectors.
