The Fune Emirate Council of Yobe State has conferred the traditional title of Sardaunan Fune on the state governor, Mai Mala Buni.
Representatives of Fune Emirate Council led by the deputy governor, Idi Barde Gubana, presented Governor Buni with a letter announcing him as Sardaunan Fune.
Buni commended Fune Emirate council for the honour and promised to execute and protect the functions
of the office of Sardauna, charging the people of the Fune Emirate to live peacefully irrespective of their ethno-cultural and political differences.
The governor was decorated with a traditional regalia of the Sardauna symbolising his new status in the Emirate council.
In another development, Governor Buni has appointed Alhaji Isa Shettima (Amando) as the project coordinator for SMARTEd Project, a collaborative initiative between the Yobe State government and the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB).
This was contained in a statement by the secretary to the state government (SSG), Baba Mallam Wali, which was made available to newsmen in Damaturu, the state capital.
The SMARTEd Project is an education initiative aimed at advancing the state’s educational sector through innovative strategies and sustainable development practices.
