T2 has entered into a multi-million-dollar partnership with Huawei, a global ICT giant, to overhaul and modernise its core network infrastructure.

T2 said this is a strategic move that marks its re-emergence in Nigeria’s competitive telecommunications landscape.

This was disclosed at a formal signing ceremony in Lagos. The partnership underscores T2’s renewed ambition to reassert itself as a dominant player in the sector.

The agreement will see Huawei deploy cutting-edge technologies to significantly upgrade T2’s core systems enhancing network capacity, performance, resilience, and security.

While the move described as a pivotal milestone in T2’s transformation journey, the collaboration signals the start of a comprehensive, multi-phase investment programme that aligns with the company’s strategic roadmap: ‘Stabilisation, Modernisation, Transformation, and Growth.’

Speaking at the signing event, T2’s chief executive officer, Obafemi Banigbe, described the partnership as a defining moment in the company’s evolution.

“With Huawei’s technological leadership, we’re not just upgrading infrastructure—we are building a future-ready network capable of exceeding the expectations of the modern Nigerian consumer,” Banigbe said.

In his remark, the chief executive officer of the Nigeria Carrier Business division, Mr. Jiang Junyong, affirmed the company’s readiness to deliver a world-class solution tailored to T2’s long-term goals.

“This collaboration reflects our unwavering commitment to innovation and our deep understanding of the Nigerian market,” Jiang said.
