Yobe State Governor Hon. Mai Mala Buni has donated the sum of N10 million to assist victims and the families of those who lost their lives.

Governor Buni paid a sympathy visit to Maiduguri, the capital of Borno State, following the recent multiple bomb explosions that claimed over 30 lives and left several others injured.

The Governor was represented by his Deputy, Idi Barde Gubana, who conveyed heartfelt condolences to the government and people of Borno State, particularly to families affected by the tragic incident.

He explained that he was representing Governor Buni, who is currently in Mecca performing the lesser Hajj (Umrah), and therefore unavoidably absent.

Delivering the Governor’s message, the Deputy Governor stated that the Government and people of Yobe State deeply share in the grief of the victims. “Our hearts bleed as innocent citizens, who were merely going about their lawful daily activities, have become victims of this senseless violence,” he said.

He urged residents to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious movements to security agencies, emphasising that security is a collective responsibility.

He described the attacks as barbaric and unfortunate, lamented the loss of innocent lives and injuries sustained by many, and prayed for Allah’s forgiveness for the deceased and speedy recovery for the wounded.

He also reaffirmed the strong bond between the two states, noting that “Borno and Yobe are one; whatever affects Borno equally affects Yobe.”

The Governor also commended the Federal Government and frontline security personnel for their renewed efforts in restoring peace to the region.

In his response, the Deputy Governor of Borno State, Umar Usman Kadafur, expressed profound appreciation to the Yobe State delegation for the show of solidarity.

He noted that both states continue to face similar security challenges, especially in light of ongoing military operations in the Sambisa Forest aimed at dismantling Boko Haram strongholds. According to him, such operations often lead to the infiltration of insurgents into urban areas using improvised explosive devices (IEDs).

He called for sustained collaboration between the people and governments of both states to find lasting solutions to the recurring attacks. He also urged citizens to intensify prayers for an end to insurgency and for lasting peace and harmony across the region.
