Yobe State Governor, Hon. (Dr.) Mai Mala Buni, has approved automatic employment for Surayya Muhammad Kabir, a First Class graduate of Physics from Yobe State University (YSU), in what the governor described as part of the administration’s commitment to rewarding excellence and strengthening human capital development in the state.
A statement from the director general Press Affairs and Media to the Governor, Mamman Mohammed said Surayya received her appointment letter from Governor buni aat the Government House in Damaturu.
The governor congratulated Surayya for her exceptional academic feat, describing her as a role model worthy of emulation by students across the state.
Buni assured that his administration will continue to promote policies and initiatives that encourage learning and talent development, especially among young girls, stressing that education remains the most sustainable investment for any society.
“You are an excellent ambassador of girl-child education in the state. Others should emulate this outstanding feat,” the governor said.
The governor explained that supporting outstanding graduates with opportunities is part of deliberate measures to encourage a culture of excellence and demonstrate that diligence and academic success are recognised by the government.
He stated that the state government remains committed to strengthening educational development at all levels through improved learning facilities, support to teachers, and programmes aimed at ensuring increased enrollment and retention of children in schools.
The governor further assured that his administration would continue to pursue inclusive education policies that guarantee equal opportunities to all children, irrespective of their financial background.
“We will continue to ensure that no child in Yobe State is denied education due to his or her economic background,” Buni assured.
He also urged Surayya to remain focused and disciplined in her new assignment, while using her story to motivate other young people to embrace education, hard work and integrity.
Surayya on her part said the appointment had reinforced her confidence in hard work, dedication and academic excellence.
…Receives Two Ambulances Donated By Chevron
The Yobe State Governor Hon Mai Mala Buni has received two ambulances donated by Chevron Nigeria Limited, describing the gesture as a significant step to complement the state’s efforts at strengthening healthcare delivery and emergency response services.
The ambulances were received on behalf of the state government by the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Mohammed Lawan Gana, who later presented them to the governor in Damaturu.
Buni has while receiving the ambulances, commended Chevron for what he described as a partnership-driven intervention that aligns with the government’s agenda of expanding access to quality healthcare services.
The governor stated that effective healthcare delivery requires support from all stakeholders, stressing that contributions from corporate organisations go a long way in improving service efficiency and saving lives.
He directed for proper utilisation in addition to effective maintainance to guarantee long-term service to the people.
“This support will further strengthen our healthcare delivery system, especially in emergency response. The hospital management must ensure the ambulances are well utilised and properly maintained,” Buni said.
Presenting the keys of the ambulances to the Governor, the Commissioner, Dr. Gana said the donation was timely, noting that it would enhance referral services and improve access to emergency healthcare, particularly for women and children.
Dr Gana disclosed that the vehicles would be deployed to the Maternal and Child Referral Centre at the Yobe State University Teaching Hospital, where they would support rapid response and transportation of patients requiring urgent medical attention.
The commissioner used the forum to reaffirm the ministry’s commitments to actualizing Governor Buni’s initiative to improve the health sector through infrastructure development, provision of medical equipment, and strengthening of referral systems across health facilities.
