Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni has categorically denied rumours circulating on social media of an alleged plan to join the People Democratic Party (PDP) before the forthcoming general elections in 2027.
He made the denial in a press statement signed by his DG, press and media affairs, Mamman Mohammed, which was made available to journalists weekend in Damaturu, the state capital.
According to the statement, “My attention has been drawn to a purported release attributed to one George Udom. I wish to clarify George’s fabrications as they affect my principal, Governor Mai Mala Buni, the executive governor of Yobe State.”
He described it as a great disservice and poor political calculation if the so-called George Udom thinks he can build up a political campaign for Atiku Abubakar using baseless fabrications, unwarranted imagination, and assumptions that do not align with reality in any way, shape, or form.
He said that George Udom is only engaged in a wild goose chase with very poor understanding and political calculation, thus exposing his ignorance like a torchlight in the dark.
He said that at no time has Udom ever been close to Governor Buni to think he can attempt to predict the governor’s political movement.
“George Udom should know that Governor Buni is no ordinary member of the APC; he is not just an APC Governor. He is APC in all ramifications, with APC flowing in his veins.
“Also, Buni’s contributions to building APC as a two-term National Secretary and National Chairman, who chaired the party’s convention committee, make him unique, and his imagination of leaving the party cannot be speculated by the likes of George Udom,” he said.
The director general, media affairs, urged the public to disregard the information.
