The Lagos State Football Association (LSFA) has donated five footballs to Igbobi College, Lagos, as part of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) School Football Development Initiative. The initiative aims to promote health, wellness, and active participation in football among students across the continent.
Dotun Coker, Vice Chairman of the LSFA and an alumnus of Igbobi College, presented the symbolic CAF footballs to the school’s Principal, Joseph Oyewale Adediji. Coker highlighted that the donation aligns with a broader vision to develop students holistically through the transformative power of football, fostering academic, physical, emotional, and social growth.
Igbobi College boasts a proud history of nurturing football talents, including notable figures like Andrew Uwe, Jonathan Akpoborie, and Joseph Dosu. The institution is also recognized for producing prominent leaders such as Femi Gbajabiamila, Chief of Staff to the President of Nigeria, and former Lagos State Governor Babatunde Raji Fashola. Seyi Akinwunmi, immediate past 1st NFF VP and former LSFA Chairman, is also an alumnus.
Principal Adediji expressed gratitude to the LSFA, noting that the gesture would encourage greater student participation in sports, promoting discipline, teamwork, and healthy living. The initiative, originated by CAF and distributed through the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), is being rolled out to selected schools via state football associations.
