Wikki Tourists secured a vital 2-1 victory over El-Kanemi Warriors in a pulsating North-East derby on Saturday, a result that sees them climb out of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) relegation zone.
The Bauchi landlords fought back from an early deficit to claim all three points, much to the delight of their home fans.
El-Kanemi Warriors stunned the home crowd just two minutes into the game when D. Abdulrahman found the back of the net, giving the visitors an early lead.
Wikki Tourists, however, showed resilience and leveled the score just before halftime, in the 45+1 minute, sending both teams into the break with the score at 1-1.
The second half saw Wikki Tourists push for a winner, and their efforts paid off in the 52nd minute when they scored what proved to be the decisive goal. The victory propels Wikki Tourists to 14th position on the NPFL log with 30 points, providing a much-needed boost in their fight against relegation. El-Kanemi Warriors, despite the loss, remain in 9th place.
