Music boss Don Jazzy, born Michael Collins Ajereh, has shared a funny idea about why many modern marriages end quickly compared to those of our parents.
In a viral video, the Mavin Records leader used wedding cakes to explain the difference between old and new relationships. He noted that in the past, couples used fruit cakes made with alcohol. These cakes could stay fresh for a whole year, allowing the couple to eat some on their first anniversary.
“Back in the days, our parents used to make this fruit cake; they would leave the rest for like one year and eat it on their anniversary,” he said. He suggested that because those cakes lasted a long time, the marriages seemed to last longer, too.
He compared those old cakes to the “butter ice cream cakes” many couples choose today, which spoil very quickly. He joked that since the cakes don’t last, the marriages might be following the same path.
Don Jazzy also pointed out that many modern wedding cakes are mostly made of plastic decorations with only a tiny real piece to cut. He teased that because the cakes are “fake,” the marriages might be struggling as well.
Even though he was joking, the music star ended the video with a laugh, saying, “Maybe that is why you people’s marriage is not working, Maybe I’m high. I didn’t smoke, I just ate.”
