The Caleb University College of Law (COLAW) has recorded a victory at the maiden edition of the JURITRUST Centre Administration of Criminal Justice Academy Moot Competition.
The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Olalekan Asikhia, described the victory as a reflection of the university’s unwavering commitment to academic excellence and practical training.
“This outstanding performance is a clear validation of our vision to raise globally competitive legal professionals. Our students have once again demonstrated that Caleb University is a hub of excellence, discipline, and intellectual depth,” he said.
The event, held at the Continental Hotel in Abuja, attracted top law faculties from across the federation, all vying for honours in a contest designed to test advocacy skills and mastery of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act (ACJA).
The Caleb University team distinguished itself, emerging as the Overall Best School in South-West Nigeria and securing an impressive third place overall nationally.
Also commending the students, the Dean of the College of Law, Dr Olugbenga Asaju, lauded their resilience and intellectual rigour.
“Our students displayed exceptional courtroom dexterity, sound legal reasoning, and confidence under pressure. This achievement is a product of deliberate mentorship, structured training, and a culture of excellence embedded in our college,” he noted.
The team’s performance earned them a ceremonial cheque of N200,000, further underscoring the significance of their accomplishment.
The competition, supported by the MacArthur Foundation, aims to strengthen clinical legal education and enhance students’ understanding of justice administration in Nigeria.
The award is authenticated by Prof. Adedeji Adekunle SAN, Chief Executive Officer of the JURITRUST Centre.
