Miva Open University, Abuja, has secured approval to commence seven new academic programmes at undergraduate and doctoral levels, bringing its academic portfolio to 37 programmes and strengthening its commitment to expanding access to flexible, relevant and career-oriented higher education.
The newly – approved programmes comprise three doctoral degrees under the School of Postgraduate Studies (SPGS): Doctor of Information Technology (DIT), Doctor of Public Administration (DPA) and Doctor of Public Health (DPH).
The four undergraduate programmes, under the School of Management and Social Sciences (SMSS), are B.Sc. Political Science, B.Sc. International Relations, B.Sc. Project Management, and B.Sc. Logistics and Supply Chain Management.
The university has also concluded plans to launch 10 new programmes in January 2027. These will include the Master of Economic Policy Management (M.EPM), Master of Communication and Media Practice (M.CMP) and B.Ed. Educational Technology, alongside the seven newly approved programmes.
Commenting on the expansion, the Vice-Chancellor of Miva Open University, Professor Tayo Arulogun, said the growing programme portfolio reflected the institution’s commitment to serving learners with diverse academic interests and professional ambitions.
“By broadening our academic portfolio, we are creating more opportunities for learners with diverse interests and career aspirations to pursue relevant qualifications and advance their knowledge across levels,” he said.
The university further noted that two additional programmes, B.Sc. Insurance and Risk Management and B.Ed. Science Education (Mathematics), had previously received approval from the National Universities Commission (NUC) and were expected to become available by mid-2027.
“As a technology-driven institution, Miva Open University continues to advance flexible, accessible and innovative approaches to higher education. By expanding its academic offerings, the university aims to respond more effectively to the evolving needs of learners, the demands of the labour market and emerging opportunities across professional and academic fields,” it added.
