Brandon Frankel, husband of Oscar-nominated actress Gabourey Sidibe, has opened up about his health battle after undergoing surgery following a diagnosis of stage one papillary thyroid cancer.

Sharing the update on social media, Frankel said the condition was discovered early after he insisted on getting an ultrasound despite initial medical hesitation. According to him, being proactive played a key role in catching the illness before it progressed, allowing doctors to move quickly with treatment.

The media executive confirmed that the surgery to remove the cancer was successful, although further monitoring will continue after tests revealed a more aggressive cell type. He said the experience has strengthened his commitment to prioritising his health and remaining present for his family.

Frankel also paid tribute to Sidibe for her unwavering support throughout the process, describing her as the pillar who kept their household stable while he navigated hospital visits and recovery. The couple, who married in 2021, share twins Cooper and Maya.
