Manchester United’s midfield enforcer, Casemiro, is reportedly giving serious thought to a surprise summer switch to Major League Soccer, after a formal proposal landed on his table from David Beckham’s Inter Miami.
The development was shared by transfer insider Fabrizio Romano on Saturday, who revealed via X that the 32-year-old Brazilian is actively considering the move. According to Romano, Casemiro has entered into discussions with the Miami-based club, with a view to departing Old Trafford at the end of the current season as a free agent.
Inter Miami, already home to global icons Lionel Messi, Sergio Busquets, and Jordi Alba, have identified Casemiro as a “priority target” to anchor their midfield.
The club’s sporting leadership sees the five-time Champions League winner as the ideal blend of steel, experience, and trophy-winning pedigree to complement their star-studded roster.
Casemiro’s potential departure from United—where he arrived from Real Madrid in 2022 for an initial £60 million—has been anticipated for months.
While his debut season was instrumental in United’s Carabao Cup triumph and Champions League qualification, a dip in form and persistent injury issues during the 2023-24 campaign have opened the door for a fresh chapter.
With his contract winding down and no renewal in sight, the São Paulo-born battler is now weighing up a blockbuster move to Florida’s bright lights.
However, Romano adds that Casemiro is not short of options: several clubs across Europe are also monitoring his situation, ready to offer him an alternative route should he choose to remain on the continent.
For now, the ball rests at Casemiro’s feet. A decision looms—one that could see one of the most decorated defensive midfielders of his generation trade the rain of Manchester for the sunshine of Miami.
