A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara State, Dr Kolo  Jiya, has begged  members of the party in Kwara central and Kwara south senatorial districts to concede the gubernatorial seat of state to the northern senatorial district in 2027.

Jiya who made the appeal during the media parliament of the state council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) in Ilorin, said the people of Kwara North are now united in their quest to produce the governor of the state in 2027.

He noted that no one from the zone had occupied the position since the return of Nigeria to democratic rule in 1999.

Jiya said people of the zone had on different occasions between 1999 and 2003 given governorship candidates from either Kwara central or Kwara south bulk votes to emerge victorious in elections, adding that Kwara Central within the period under review produced three governors while Kwara South produced one governor who spent maximum eight years in office.

“Kwara North people are united in their quest to produce the governor of Kwara State in 2027. We are more united now, our monarchs are united for this purpose. We have always delivered bulk votes for Kwara Central and Kwara South candidates in the past gubernatorial elections since 1999 . We are begging our brothers in Kwara Central and Kwara South to consider us for the state’s number one seat come 2027, “ he said.
