Charity Champions Cup, a football match between Nigerian footballers and celebrities is set to raise funds for basic amenities for visually impaired.
Slated to hold June 15, 2024, the competition held under the auspices of the ATTOM Foundation will feature CAF Footballer of the Year, Victor Osimhen, Kenneth Omeruo, Ogeyi Onazi, Wilfred Ndidi, Kelechi Iheanacho among others on the footballers’ part, whilst the celebrities’ team will consist Kaffy Ameh, Tiwa Sawage, Funnybones, Kemen, Craze Clown to name a few. Ex-Super Eagles stars Kanu Nwankwo and Austin Jay Jay Okocha will serve as coaches to the teams.
Addressing the media at the press conference for the tournament, founder of the seven-year-old foundation, Attom Yahaya said proceeds from the match and activities around it will be deployed in the procurement of an ultra-modern mobile eye clinic to help support the visually impaired in the country.
Commending the initiative, reputable dancer Kaffy Ameh stressed the need to support persons living with visual impairments who are in dire need of empowerment. “We need the support of society and good Nigerians to rally around this initiative.”
Charity Champions Cups is endorsed by the Federal Ministry of Sports and Development, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) and the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare.
