As part of its 21st harvest thanksgiving anniversary celebrations, the Celestial Church of Christ, Joy of Salvation Parish, One Man Village, has donated food items and essential supplies to the Abuja Children’s Home in Karu.

Some of the Items donated included bags of rice, garri, cartons of noodles, biscuits, bottled water, beverages, and other essentials aimed at supporting the welfare of the children.

During the visit on Wednesday, the shepherd-in-charge, Evangelist Adeniyi Samuel, said the gesture was in line with biblical teachings to care for the less privileged, especially widows and orphans.

“We are here in commemoration of our 21st harvest thanksgiving. According to the scriptures, this is a time to reach out to the underprivileged — the widows and the orphans in our society,” he said.
Samuel emphasised the importance of giving hope to vulnerable children, encouraging caregivers to preach hope and faith in God.

“The children are not hopeless; they are the future of tomorrow. Among them could be the next president of Nigeria. Preach hope to them and let them believe in God.

“Any structure or society that removes Jesus Christ from its foundation will not stand. We must keep God first and continue this work together,” he added.

The week-long harvest activities, according to him, include a cooking competition, praise night, environmental sanitation and a grand thanksgiving service on Sunday.

Also, Mother Celestial Gladys Adeniyi reflected on the spiritual bond between the church and the orphanage, recalling that the church made a similar visit during its first harvest in 2005.

“We were here in 2005 during our first harvest, and by divine leading, we are back again for the 21st. It is not by accident — it is the work of the Holy Spirit,” she said.

Receiving the items on behalf of the orphanage, the education officer, Efayemiode Lekan, expressed gratitude to the church for the donation, noting that such gestures go a long way in supporting the home.

“Yes, we have challenges like everyone else, but we’re thankful. God has been merciful. With the help of individuals and organisations like yours, we believe the future will be better.

“It’s not every orphanage that gets such recognition. We feel blessed that you remembered us and brought all these gifts,” she said.
