National president of Men’s Missionary Union of the Nigerian Baptist Convention, Dr Soye Peniel, has said the 2027 general election would be a futile exercise except the leadership of INEC is changed.

Dr Peniel stated this yesterday in Asaba after the close of the 44th Annual Congress of the Men Missionary of the Nigerian Baptist Convention.

He said a true, transparent and fair election can only be conducted by men and women of integrity, maintaining that it was wrong to solely blame politicians for the decay in the country.

While insisting that Nigerians of all strata should stop compromising and frontally fight corruption, he added that not only the leadership of the country is responsible for the rot and decay and that most civil servants and ordinary Nigerians are worse than the political officeholders they complain about.

One kobo cannot be stolen from government treasury without the collaboration of the civil servants. There is the need for value re-orientation and morality should be a strong policy of both the rulers and the masses.

“The naira was becoming valueless and that the solution was not to increase wages but to put in place measures to pick up the value of the national currency. Many Nigerians go to bed hungry because of the badly managed economy.
