Veteran entertainer and activist Charly Boy has sounded the alarm over Nigeria’s deepening social and economic challenges, warning that the country risks a major crisis if celebrities remain silent on issues affecting ordinary Nigerians.

Speaking recently, the outspoken entertainer argued that musicians, actors and other public figures carry a responsibility to leverage their platforms for the public good, insisting that many celebrities command even greater influence than politicians.

“They can do more. They have larger platforms than politicians. It won’t hurt them to speak up or make music that reflects reality,” he said.

Charly Boy expressed particular concern over worsening insecurity and social decay, cautioning that continued inaction could have grave consequences. “It’s going to explode in our faces,” he warned.

The activist also linked some of Nigeria’s growing social problems to economic hardship and the erosion of family values, noting that financial pressure has pushed many families into desperate situations. He added that traditional parenting approaches may no longer be adequate for raising the current generation, which faces realities vastly different from those of its predecessors.

Despite his stark warnings, Charly Boy struck an optimistic note, pointing to a crop of young Nigerians who are carving out opportunities for themselves and raising their voices to demand accountability. He also praised an emerging generation of activists and social commentators who are increasingly willing to speak truth to power.
