Chelsea have completed the signing of Spanish left-back Pep Chavarria from La Liga side Rayo Vallecano on a five-year contract, the Premier League club announced Wednesday.
The 28-year-old will join his new teammates at Cobham for preseason training ahead of the 2026/27 campaign.
“I’m so excited to get started,” Chavarria told Chelsea’s official website. “This is a dream for me as Chelsea are one of the biggest clubs in the world.”
Chavarria began his senior career at hometown club UE Figueres in Spain’s fourth tier, making his debut at 18 against CF Peralada. He moved to third-tier UE Olot in 2018, logging 52 appearances before transferring to Real Zaragoza in August 2020, where he made his professional debut against Las Palmas.
The defender joined Rayo Vallecano in August 2022 and became a mainstay over four seasons, featuring 44 times last term as Rayo reached the UEFA Conference League final, where they lost to Crystal Palace. He also helped the club secure back-to-back eighth-place finishes in La Liga.
