The Yobe State Primary Health Care Board in collaboration with development partners has joined the global community in celebrating and commemorating the World Contraception Day.
The executive secretary State Primary Health Care Board, Dr Babagana Kundi Machina has while flagging off the celebration at Gwange PHC in Damaturu described the effort as not only timely but important to the society.
Dr Kundi who equally described the theme of the “Empowering Choices, Enhancing Lives: Unlocking the Childbirth Spacing in Yobe” as vital said the celebration helped in promoting awareness, education and access to contraception.
He said, “As we gather here today, I want to emphasize that childbirth spacing is not a personal choice but a fundamental right. It enables individuals particularly women and girls to make informed decisions about their reproductive health, education and economic empowerment.
“In Yobe, we recognize the importance of childbirth spacing in reducing maternal and infant mortality, preventing unintended pregnancies and promoting family planning.
“The administration of His Excellency Governor Mai Mala Buni is committed to increasing access to quality childbirth spacing services for marginalized and hard-t-reach communities,” the ES said.
Various partners such as TCI, Care International,. RAWYORD, ARFH, MSI Nigeria among others have while speaking through their representative during the event reaffirm their support towards ensuring the success of the programme in the state.
