China has intensified efforts to boost cultural relations with Nigeria to strengthen mutual trust through dialogue in order to enhance learning between both countries.
This was the crux of the events to celebrate the International Day for Dialogue Among Civilisations and exhibition of the Fun, Charm and Ink Fragrance, the Cultural Resonance of Traditional Calligraphy and Tang Dynasty Virtual Reality VR, organised by the China Cultural Centre in Nigeria in Abuja on Wednesday.
In his remarks, cultural counsellor and director of China Cultural Centre in Nigeria, Yang Jianxing, stressed the need to enhance understanding and cultivate mutual trust through dialogue, promote unity and seek consensus through exchanges and continuously solidify the cultural foundation for building a community with a shared future for mankind.
He added that the exhibition was one of the important measures to promote cultural exchange and mutual learning between China and Nigeria.
He said, “The fun, charm and ink fragrance, the cultural resonance of traditional calligraphy and Tang Dynasty virtual reality project organically combines traditional art objects with VR technology, preserving the authentic charm of traditional art while giving it a novel presentation.”
The cultural counsellor noted that the blend of ancient and modern, virtual and real would3 bring to Nigeria a brand new experience of Chinese culture, promote exchange and understanding between different cultures, and inject new vitality into understanding Chinese culture and strengthening cultural exchange.
The permanent secretary, Federal Ministry of Innovation, Science and Technology, Mukhtar Yawale Muhammad, said China and Nigeria have a lot to share, not only in terms of culture and heritage and tradition, but also in advancing the efficiency of human performance on the globe.
He said, “Nigeria has the largest population in Africa and therefore a dialogue with the Chinese civilisation is really something that will help us to advance further in terms of technology, innovation and in science.”
The director-general, Voice of Nigeria (VON) Jibrin Baba Ndace, commended the Chinese government for its commitment to promoting cultural exchange, mutual understanding, and people-to-people connection between the two countries
“As Nigeria’s international broadcaster, we remain committed to deepening this relationship by promoting intercultural dialogue, sharing authentic stories, and building bridges of friendship between our people,” he said.
