Concerned by the security situation in the country, the chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in Bauchi State, Reverend Abraham Damina Dimius, has urged Nigerians to turn to prayers for peace and unity to return in the country and for the bloodshed to end.
Speaking from the pulpit during his Sunday sermon, Reverend Dimius lamented that insecurity has continued to threaten lives and property while choking socio-economic development and tearing at the fabric of communities.
He described the moment as critical, calling for collective prayers and deliberate efforts to promote peace and stability across the nation.
“This is a time for collective prayers and responsible action,” the CAN chairman declared, charging religious leaders and citizens to work hand in hand to foster harmony at both state and national levels.
Reverend Dimius also pointed to interfaith dialogue as a vital weapon against conflict, noting that misunderstandings between religious and ethnic groups often fuel violence.
He emphasised that only through tolerance, mutual respect, and cooperation can communities overcome divisions and establish lasting peace.
In a similar vein, Reverend Baiko Jimra Palshi of ECWA Church No. 1, Bauchi, urged Christians to embrace forgiveness, moral discipline, and unity.
He warned against harbouring grudges or seeking revenge, saying such attitudes undermine both spiritual growth and social cohesion.
Reverend Jimra called on worshippers to live by the teachings of Jesus Christ, emphasising that integrity, compassion and love remain the bedrock of peaceful societies.
He also underscored the power of prayer, describing it as a potent force against fear, uncertainty and the unrest gripping the nation.
