Christmas: Kwara Police Tighten Security In Worship Centres, Others As NSCDC Deploys 2,380 Personnel

The Kwara State Police Command said it has put in place robust security measures across the state ahead of the Christmas and New Year festivities.

The Command said visibility policing, intelligence-led patrols, and targeted operations have been intensified across places of worship, markets, recreational and event centres, motor parks, highways, and other public spaces.

Spokesperson of the State Police Command, Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, who disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday, stated that the development was in furtherance of the Commissioner of Police, Adekimi Ojo’s commitment to proactive policing and the safety of lives and property, ahead of the festive period.

“This proactive deployment affirms the Command’s readiness and dedication to sustaining public safety and confidence during the period.

‎”In alignment with the Nigeria Police Force’s nationwide security architecture for the Yuletide season, as outlined by the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, visibility policing, intelligence-led patrols, and targeted operations have been intensified across places of worship, markets, recreational and event centres, motor parks, highways, and other public spaces.

‎”Tactical and specialised units are on heightened alert, with sustained surveillance and raids ongoing in identified blackspots and flashpoints. Deployed officers have been directed to remain professional, firm, and courteous in the discharge of their duties.

‎”The Kwara State Police Command assures residents of its firm resolve to sustain peace and security before, during, and after the festive season and wishes all residents a peaceful Christmas and a prosperous New Year,” Ejire-Adeyemi said.

Meanwhile, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Kwara State Command, has deployed 2,380 officers and men across the state to strengthen the protection of critical national assets, safeguard public facilities, and ensure the safety of residents throughout the Yuletide season.

In a statement signed by the NSCDC spokesperson in the state, Shola Michael, it was stated that the deployment covers all 16 local government areas of the state.

Michael said the personnel were drawn from elite and specialised units, including the Armed Squad, Operational Harmony, Counter-Terrorism Unit, Anti-Vandal Unit, and the Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear and Explosive (CBRNE) Unit.
