The Apapa District Superintendent of the Assemblies of God Nigeria, Rev. Chukwudebelu Izuchukwu, made a passionate call for leaders and followers alike to imbibe the spirit of discipline, put aside selfish interests, and prioritise doing things the right way.

He believed this was the path to finding lasting solutions to Nigeria’s problems.

Speaking with journalists, Rev. Izuchukwu lamented that indiscipline has fueled self-centeredness and corruption, enabling leaders to misappropriate resources meant for the masses.

“Indiscipline is our major problem,” he stated, adding that it has tarnished Nigeria’s image abroad.

The church leader warned corrupt officials diverting public funds into their personal purses to desist immediately or face impending doom for themselves and their lineages.

He reminded them of the universal principle of sowing and reaping, declaring that nemesis will inevitably catch up with the wicked.

Rev. Izuchukwu stressed that God will demand an account from bad leaders for the suffering and deaths of the poor caused by their misdeeds.

He urged a return to God through Jesus Christ as the only way out, noting the ongoing confusion as one of the biblical signs of the end times.

Expressing concern over the rampant killings across the country, the superintendent lamented that some wicked individuals have turned insecurity into a money-making venture.

“It is indiscipline that will make someone stack money abroad while his people here are languishing in pain. Why will someone keep thirty cars or thirty houses when his fellow citizens, even those from his community, could not go to school?” he questioned rhetorically.

Rev. Izuchukwu called for a nationwide conscious effort to restore discipline, selflessness, and a culture of doing the right thing, especially among leaders.

He believed a courageous leader willing to make tough decisions is needed to drive positive change in Nigeria.

As part of efforts to alleviate suffering amidst economic hardship, the Apapa District of the Assemblies of God has been involved in several corporate social responsibility initiatives.

These include providing scholarships to indigent students, cash gifts, and food items to widows, the needy, and less-privileged, regardless of religion or ethnicity.
