An environmentalist, Dr Iliya Yame Kwache, has urged churches to key into the fight against climate change and global warming.
Kwache spoke at the annual conference of Lutheran Church of Christ in Nigeria (LCCN) organised for pastors of the church across the country where he described them as the moral compass of the society with large followership, putting them in a good position to drive forward the fight against climatic change.
He said climate change is the greatest enemy and threat to humanity at the moment affecting the world, hence the need for all hands to be on deck to address it.
He said churches must not only take tree planting campaign seriously and include it in their church agenda but also take deliberate measures to encourage and enlighten their members especially during Sunday service and other church activities on the importance of tree planting and effects of climate change.
Appreciating the role of Lutheran Church under Archbishop Fanti Filibus for its efforts not only in evangelism but also in all areas of human endeavours such as education, health, agriculture, and empowerment among others.
Earlier, Fanti had called on the pastors to re- dedicate themselves to the services of God and humanity.
