Circuits, Africa’s fast-growing digital entertainment platform, will officially launch in Uganda on September 1, 2025, with a lineup of more than 80 films and series, alongside up to $15 million investment aimed at boosting the country’s creative sector.

Speaking on the development, Mohamed Sedik, Head of Content Acquisition at Circuits, said the expansion reflects the company’s belief in Uganda’s vibrant storytelling culture and its potential to become a key player in Africa’s film industry.

“Uganda is a vital market for us because of its dynamic creative energy and rich storytelling tradition,” Sedik explained. “Our entry into the country is not just about offering Ugandan audiences access to Nollywood and Pan-African titles—it is about investing directly in local filmmakers and ensuring that Ugandan voices are heard across the continent and the world.”

According to Sedik, Circuits’ up to $15 million commitment will be directed toward collaborations with Ugandan producers, development of new films and series, and initiatives that will place Ugandan content on equal footing with Nollywood and other African cinema.

“We are here to build long-term partnerships. When Ugandan stories sit side by side with Nollywood blockbusters and other African titles, they enrich the African viewing experience and strengthen our collective presence in the global entertainment industry,” Sedik said.

The Ugandan launch followed Circuits’ entry into Francophone Africa earlier this year, which was marked by the debut of the award-winning Souleymane’s Story. Sedik noted that more rollouts across Africa are already in the works as the platform accelerates its Pan-African growth strategy.

“With each new market we enter, our vision is the same: to spotlight Africa’s creativity, provide global audiences with premium content, and empower local industries with the tools and investments they need to thrive,” Sedik said.
