The Society for Citizens Safety (SCS) has urged the Armed Forces of Nigeria to sustain and intensify ongoing operations against terrorists, bandits and kidnappers across the country, saying Nigerians remain firmly behind the military in efforts to restore peace and security.

In a press statement issued on Monday and signed by the group’s Secretary, Gambo Abdullahi, the organisation said recent military successes demonstrate that criminal networks can be defeated through sustained pressure and intelligence-driven operations.

Abdullahi cited the recent rescue of 360 abducted residents of Ngoshe community in Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State as evidence that determined military action can dismantle terrorist strongholds.

He said the operation, carried out by troops of Operation Hadin Kai in the Mandara Mountains, highlights the importance of persistence, coordination and sustained offensives against insurgent groups.

The group added that Nigerians are encouraged by the rescue mission and other recent successes, noting that citizens expect the military to maintain momentum until terrorist and bandit networks are fully neutralised.

It also referenced recent air strikes in Borno State that reportedly killed several terrorists and destroyed a gun truck, saying such operations have weakened insurgent capabilities.

SCS further commended the arrest of suspected bandit informants by troops of Operation Savannah Shield in Niger State, stressing that targeting collaborators and logistics networks is key to defeating insecurity.

The organisation noted that the recovery of weapons, ammunition and communication devices from suspects across various operations shows steady progress in disrupting criminal support systems.

It also praised troops of Operation Enduring Peace for rescuing kidnapped victims and foiling abduction attempts in Plateau and Kaduna States.

Similarly, it highlighted the arrest of a suspected arms supplier and the recovery of over 1,000 rounds of ammunition by troops of Operation Fansan Yanma in Zamfara State, describing it as a major blow to bandit networks.

While commending the sacrifices of military personnel, Abdullahi urged the Armed Forces to “go all out” against terrorists, bandits and kidnappers, assuring them of continued public support until lasting peace is achieved nationwide.
