Civil Defence, NYSC To Partner With Imo Foundation On Clean Environment

Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Imo State Command, has pledged its supportĀ  the environmental sanitation and public health programmes of the Healthy and Sanitised Environment Foundation (THASEF).

The pledge was made during a courtesy visit by THASEF’s Imo State Chapter to the NSCDC Command Headquarters, where the state commandant, Mr Basil Igwebueze, received the delegation alongside senior officers.

Amaraegbu Obinna Daniel, Imo State programme coordinator of THASEF, called for strategic collaboration with the corps in promoting environmental sanitation, public safety, and community health across the state.

In his response, Igwebueze, noted that the objective of THASEF aligned with the statutory mandate of the NSCDC, particularly in safeguarding lives, property, and critical infrastructure.

He assured the foundation of the Command’s readiness to provide necessary assistance, including personnel support, security coverage during sanitation exercises, and enforcement of environmental safety measures.

In a related development,THASEF has expressed willingness to work a with the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Imo State Command, on environmental collaboration.

Daniel stressed that the foundation’s 2026 environmental sanitation and public health initiatives provides veritable tools for synergy.

According to him, the programme aligns with ongoing NYSC activities and the Corps’ mandate of community development and service.

In his response, NYSC state coordinator, Evans Nnanna Okwor, highlighted that the presentation was ā€œapt and well-timed,ā€ noting that NYSC already executes environmental programmes through its corps members in various communities across the state.
