The Civil Defence Officers’ Wives Association (CDOWA) at the weekend conducted free medical screening for its members and personnel of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
Chairperson of the association and wife of the FCT Commandant of the corps, Mrs Olayinka Odumosu who led the members during the outreach, said the exercise was to ensure that officers and men including their wives were in good health.
The chairperson in a statement by the public relations officer, CSC Idoko Samuel, added that the service was offered to also mark CDOWA’s 2024 first quarterly retreat themed: “Promoting Healthy Lifestyle For Peaceful Homefront”.
She stressed the importance of the free healthcare, adding that it became imperative to assist the officers and men who could not go for regular check-ups due to their engagements.
While noting that the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle cannot be over-emphasised, Mrs. Odumosu added that the gesture would help promote effective work delivery.
The CDOWA chairperson who highlighted the services rendered to include blood pressure check, eye test, sugar level checks among others, added that referrals were made for serious cases for further treatment while tips on how to stay healthy were given.
