The Centre for Journalism Innovation and Development (CJID) has announced plans to host the maiden West African Journalism Innovation Conference (WAJIC’23).
The conference according to the organisers will bring together media professionals, technology experts and industry leaders to explore ideas, foster collaboration and drive innovation in the field of journalism.
In a statement issued by the centre’s executive director, Dr Tobi Oluwatola in Abuja, the conference is scheduled to hold between July 25 and 26, 2023.
According to him, WAJIC will provide a platform for discussions on ways to explore innovation, technological models and tools that can fortify journalism practice and its sustainability in West African democratic societies while upholding the principles of accuracy, truthfulness, verification and utmost dedication to public purpose.
He said the conference would feature keynote speeches, engaging panel discussions, interactive workshops, and networking opportunities to facilitate connections and knowledge sharing among attendees.
“The event will showcase prominent speakers and thought leaders who are at the forefront of journalism and technology. Renowned journalists, media executives, and experts in the field will share their experiences and insights into the ever-evolving media landscape.
