A bishop of the Method Church of Nigeria, Dr Ikechukwu Nkulo has warned against mixing the prevailing insecurity in the country with politics, religion, and ethnicity.
The Bishop of the Diocese of Item, Bende local government area of Abia State handed the warning, yesterday, while speaking to newsmen in his office.
He said insecurity in any part of a country, no matter how remote is a threat to the citizens in general both high and low and should therefore be handled with urgency.
His words, “This is not time for ethnicity, religious, political games, or early election fever. The federal government must act decisively to protect its citizens.”
The cleric urged leaders at all levels to prioritize security, justice, human rights and dignity above every other considerations as they prepare for the 2027 general election.
Nkulo decried the rising wave of killings and kidnappings of Christians across the northern parts of the country and destroying of their worship places by bandits.
He cited two female Christian students, Leah Sharibu held hostage by Boko Haram, and Deborah Yakubu, killed over alleged blasphemy, and the attack on Christ Apostolic Church, Ekuru in Kwara State as examples.
Speaking on the recently jailed leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, the bishop, noted “My believe is that a political solution remains the most viable path to healing and resolution.”
