In a significant display of humanitarian service, the Aviary Club of Nigeria, has empowered hundreds of women and children at the Durumi Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) Camp in Abuja, providing them with food supplies and financial support.
According to the organisers, the outreach was carried out to ensure that they touch lives with their charity work and reach out to vulnerable people in Nigeria and the world at large.
Speaking at the event, global president Aviary Club of Nigeria, Sir Odia Eromosele,said “We’ve been doing our charity work for many years,this is just one of the things we’ve put in place to reach out to everyone.”
Eromosele explained,that Durumi IDP camp was carefully chosen due to the ugh number of vulnerable women and children.He further called on the government and other well-meaning Nigerians to look into the plight of IDPs and support them.
The coordinator and spokesman of IDP camps in Abuja, Idris Ibrahim Haliru,expressed gratitude to Aviary Club for always reaching out to them and added that the intervention brought immense joy to the women and children.
He appealed to the government and well-meaning Nigerians to emulate such initiatives, emphasising the need for programmes that promote dignity and self-reliance.
