The Coalition of Northern Groups (CNG) has condemned a series of deadly attacks carried out by suspected terrorists and bandits in Kwara and Katsina states, describing the incidents as unacceptable and a stark reminder of Nigeria’s deepening security challenges.

In a press release yesterday, the coalition said the attacks occurred between February 3 and 4 in Woro and Nuku communities of Kaiama local government area of Kwara State, where credible reports from local authorities and community sources indicated that over 100 residents were killed. Many others were reportedly injured during the coordinated assaults.

The CNG also condemned another attack in Katsina State, where more than 20 people were killed by suspected bandits in Doma community, Tafoki Ward of Faskari local government area.

According to the statement signed by the national coordinator of the coalition, Comrade Jamilu Aliyu Charanchi, the attackers stormed the affected communities in a violent and well-coordinated manner, destroying homes, shops and farmlands.

The attacks forced survivors—mostly women, children and the elderly—to flee their homes in fear for their lives.
