As part of his renewed commitment towards the welfare and well-being of officers of the Nigerian Army, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja has commissioned upgraded radio diagnostic centre and installation of 1.5T Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)machine at 44 Nigerian Army Reference Hospital (NARHK) Kaduna.

After the commissioning, the COAS reiterated that the provision of essential medical and other essential welfare support for the troops and their families is topmost in his agenda.

He informed that there were lots of ongoing interventions in a number of states that are geared towards motivating the men of the Nigerian Army and their families.

Particularly, he mentioned that areas of accommodation, provision of water, electricity and good roads in the barracks is being undertaken, stressing that under his leadership, he will not leave anything to chance in ensuring that the Nigerian Army is well motivated in order for them to also give their best in return.

The COAS said, “It is a new dawn for the Nigerian Army corps medical under my leadership”.

Earlier, the COAS in his address to declare open the Regimental Sergeant Majors (RSM) convention 2024 sponsored by the Army Headquarters Department of Army Administration,  said RSMs are critical stakeholders and mouthpiece for younger ones and repositories of wisdom and knowledge in units and formations.

He said, the theme of the convention which is “traditions, customs and ethics of the Nigerian Army as the bedrock of a well-trained and highly motivated force” was carefully selected to equip RSMs with knowledge and skills to effectively do their jobs.

The COAS who urged the participants to be the torch bearers who should exhibit discipline and professionalism also stressed that, “The Regimental Sergeant Majors are critical stakeholders in the Nigerian Army’s administrative and command arrangement. They are generally referred to as fathers of our units, not because of age, but because of knowledge borne out of years of training and experience garnered along the path to their current status.”
