The Federal College of Education (FCE), Iwo, Osun State, has conferred the Award of Global Impact for Digital Technologies in Education on the founder of Electronic Education Initiatives (E-DON), Dr Idon Akogun, in recognition of his outstanding contributions to digital innovation in education.
The award was presented today by the college’s director of ICT during a brief ceremony that highlighted the growing importance of technology-driven learning in teacher education. According to the ICT Directorate, Akogun’s work through the E-DON Project has played a critical role in transforming teaching and learning processes by bridging the gap between analogue and digital education systems.
At the presentation, the director of ICT described Akogun as a forward-thinking innovator whose initiatives have strengthened e-learning infrastructure, promoted digital literacy, and enhanced access to electronic educational resources across institutions.
He noted that the impact of E-DON aligns with global best practices and continues to reposition Colleges of Education for the demands of 21st Century learning.
The event also coincided with Akogun’s birthday, adding a celebratory tone to the occasion.
The award presentation underscores the Federal College of Education, Iwo’s commitment to recognising individuals whose innovations contribute meaningfully to educational development and digital transformation in Nigeria and beyond.
