Chancellor, Arthur Jarvis University, Calabar, Sir Jarvis Archibong, has announced a breakthrough in traditional medicine by the institution’s Institute for Traditional Medical Research in the treatment for cancer, fibroid and other life-threatening ailments.

Speaking on the feat with journalists yesterday at Ernest Etim Bassey Press Centre, Calabar in Cross River State, Jarvis said he and his team had been working round the clock to demystify the erroneous subjects around trado-medicine.

While expressing willingness to launch into trado-medicine landscape, he said, “We are happy to announce to our community and the world at large that our well-equipped Institute of Trado-Medical Research at our university campus in Akpabuyo local government area, Cross River State, is open for treatment of individuals diagnosed of any of these life-threatening illnesses as mentioned earlier.”

He said the team’s goal was to provide empirical basis and globally recognised medical solutions that can favourably compete with orthodox medicine.

The chancellor said, “The Governing Council of the institution had earlier approved the construction and equipping of a standard Institute of Trado-Medical Research within the Arthur Javis University Campus.

“The institute will make use of the wide range of herbs from the surrounding forest resources around the university community and the available traditional medical practitioners within and around our locality to treat some of the life-threatening illnesses.”

He enumerated the diseases targeted by the research institute to include, hemorrhoids (pile), prostate, diabetes, asthma, kidney stone, cancer, fibroid, epilepsy, bone fracture/dislocation/setting, and many more.

Jarvis and the team averred that their action is in line with the federal government’s vision through the establishment of the Department of Traditional, Complementary and Alternative Medicine (CAM) under the Federal Ministry of Health in a letter referenced OHCSF/MSO/72/IV/132 and dated 4th April 2018.
