A standout moment of the day was the impressive march past, a vivid reflection of the students’ discipline and collective spirit.

During the proceedings, Major General M.M. Bunza, the event’s chairman and the school’s inaugural Commandant, highlighted the importance of the occasion as a platform for students to express their athletic abilities while cultivating vital values such as teamwork, resilience, discipline, and fair play. He stated:

“Command Secondary School Suleja has consistently instilled these virtues in its students. Our sporting activities are among the many initiatives designed to develop resilience, teamwork, and determination. Today’s event is not merely a competition; it is an opportunity for our students to showcase their talents and refine their psychomotor skills.”

He further articulated the significance of physical fitness in enhancing mental preparedness, stating that physical wellbeing enables students to better tackle academic challenges.

“A physically fit student is also mentally equipped to manage academic rigours. Events like this bolster a culture of fitness among students, which is essential for their holistic development.”

Major General Bunza praised the Commandant and the school staff for their unwavering commitment to shaping students into responsible and resourceful members of society. He urged ongoing dedication to developing disciplined, academically capable, and physically fit future leaders.

In his address, Lt. Col. R. Aliyu, the Commandant of Command Secondary School Suleja, reiterated that the Annual Inter-House Sports Competition serves as a unifying platform, fostering camaraderie amongst participants and spectators alike.

“Sports represent a key domain in education—cognitive, affective, and psychomotor. At Command Secondary School Suleja, we prioritise the growth of all three areas to ensure our students develop intellectually, build strong character, and maintain their physical fitness.”

He continued, “The school is committed to discovering and nurturing sporting talents among students while upholding academic greatness. As the saying goes, ‘All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy.’ This year, we gather once again in the pursuit of sporting excellence, with this edition marking a significant improvement on previous events. We are here to showcase talent and skills, competing in sports—not in conflict.”

The Commandant also commended the Central Organizing Committee and Sub-Committees for their hard work in orchestrating the event, which significantly contributes to the students’ overall development.

With this renewed commitment to sports, Command Secondary School Suleja continues to champion a culture of excellence, discipline, and teamwork, effectively preparing students for future triumphs in both academics and athletics.
