Cross River State commissioner for Education, Professor Stephen Odey, has empowered his constituents of Yache Nation with rice, cars, motorcycles, sewing machines and assorted materials.
The beneficiaries were selected from the five local government areas in Cross River North Senatorial District.
Odey described the event as more than a festivity.
He said, “This New Year celebration is not just about festivity; it is about gratitude and empowerment. I am deeply thankful to the people of Yache Nation and the entire Cross River North for their unwavering support,” he said.
Odey said the gifts were a token of his commitment to improving livelihoods and strengthening grassroots ties.
The commissioner reaffirmed his commitment to continuing his efforts to improve the living standards for his constituents.
“My commitment remains the improvement of livelihoods, the strengthening of communities, and the promotion of inclusive development across Cross River North,” he declared, underscoring that empowerment lies at the heart of his public‑service philosophy.
Odey also pledged continued support for Governor Bassey Otu’s administration, stressing that the governor’s “People First” mantra aligned with his vision.
On behalf of the governor, the deputy chief of staff, Chief Boniface Okache, commended Odey’s leadership style.
