Community Seeks Govt Assistance On Collapsed Katsina Bridge

Residents of Dan- Iyau community in Batagarawa local government area of Katsina State, have called on the state government to fix their collapsed bridge which was washed away by flood recently.

The bridge which links Barde Murtala, Masawa,  Barde Shaibu,  Dan Iyau, Yan Shanya, Sha’Uri and Ajiwa has cut off these communities from the city, making life difficult for the people.

LEADERSHIP Friday observed that vehicles can no longer ply the road because it was taken over by water, as only motorcycles and bicycles manage to go through the water to the other side.

The community leader of Dan – Iyau community, Abdulmumini Ahmed, said the road that led from mobile Air Force base is not accessible because of the collapsed bridge.

He said pregnant women, sick and aged people always find it difficult getting to the hospital for medical attention, and the community does not have a clinic to attend to them.

“Our call to this government which we voted for in the last election, is to help us as a matter of urgency to repair all the 3 bridges along the road from Air Force based to Ajiwa so that we can transport our goods and take our women to hospital”, he said.
