The leadership of the Nigerian Youth Congress (NYC) has hailed the chief executive officer (CEO) of Salonguru Ltd, Alhaji Balarabe Abdullahi, for his exceptional commitment to youth empowerment and grassroots development.
The association’s commendation followed the recent empowerment of 100 youths in Nguru, Yobe State, with N1 million each, totalling N100 million.
In a press release, NYC president, Engr. Jethro Terhile Annum described the empowerment as a bold, visionary, and people-centred intervention that directly addresses youth unemployment, promotes entrepreneurship and strengthens economic resilience at the community level.
Annum said, “This gesture is a shining example of patriotic leadership and social responsibility. The intervention is not only timely but a candid display of Alhaji Balarabe Abdullahi’s rare generosity, foresight and deep love for his people.
“Empowering young people with this level of financial support is not only transformative for individual beneficiaries but also catalytic for the entire community. This is the type of leadership Nigeria urgently needs, especially as youth unemployment and underemployment have become very widespread.
“Beyond his recent show of magnanimity, Alhaji Balarabe Abdullahi has an established record of humanitarian service in Nguru and beyond. He has over the years awarded scholarships to deserving students, constructed of residential houses, as well as the provision of food items, clothing, and other relief materials to less-privileged citizens within the community,” he said.
The congress quoted Abdullahi as saying that, “his dream, Insha Allah, is to create many influential and notable indigenes from Nguru by encouraging hard work, entrepreneurship and trading skills,” adding that, “empowering the younger generation with the right attitude is the way forward as it will lead to prosperity and responsibility.
“My hope is that they succeed so that they, too, can grow to empower others. Gradually, our town will become home to many privileged individuals who will be the pride of Nguru and can also reach out to others in the future to create a sustainable wealth culture.
“Whereas the state and federal governments are doing their part in providing amenities, the sporadic growth in population and limited earnings warrant community-based interventions and assistance to cushion the effects of poverty amongst our people,” he said.
While describing Abdullahi as a worthy ambassador of Nigeria and a role model to the youth, NYC urged other prominent Nigerians, business leaders, and public-spirited individuals “to emulate this noble example by investing meaningfully in youth empowerment as a pathway to inclusive growth, social stability, and national progress.”
