There is raging controversy in the Nasarawa State chapter of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) over the alleged suspension of its chairman, Adamu Bako Ninga.
The party hinged the suspension on alleged actions which negated its constitution and procedures, citing Section 57, Subsection 3 for its action.
The decision to suspend was allegedly reached “after extensive deliberations” during the State Working Committee’s March 25, 2026, meeting.
The outcome of the meeting was contained in a letter signed by the State Secretary, Engr. Kafas D. Kaura and addressed to Ninga.
“You are hereby suspended in view of the multiple actions and inactions that are inconsistent with the provisions of the party constitution,” the letter, which was sighted by our correspondent, reads in part.
Key allegations cited by the party include gross misconduct, exposing party secrets to members of other political parties, high-handedness, and unilateral decisions without recourse to the State Working Committee.
Other allegations include refusal to convene official meetings when necessary and involvement in anti-party activities.
According to the letter, Ninga should proceed on a one-month suspension pending the outcome of a disciplinary process.
The party also instructed him to hand over all party property in his possession to the Deputy Chairman with immediate effect.
However, Ninga told LEADERSHIP that he remained the state party chairman, describing the information on the purported suspension as mere rumours.
He said he had just come out of the state executive committee of the party, which he had presided over.
“I just stepped out of the executive committee meeting of our great party, where all members of the State House of Assembly elected on our platform, including the Minority Leader, were in attendance.
“To us, that’s the highest body; so whatever you heard was rumours. I’m still the state chairman of the party until tomorrow,” he stated.
