The All Progressives Congress (APC), has assured all aspirants contesting for various national offices of fairness and justice ahead of this weekend’s National Convention of the party.
Chairman of the Aspirants’ Screening Sub-committee of the APC National Convention, 2026 and governor of Ekiti state, Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji gave the assurance at the inaugural meeting of the panel in Abuja on Monday.
Oyebanji said the committee will be guided by the guidelines and constitution of the party as well as Electoral Act in carrying out its assignment and urged aspirants not to fear any victimisation.
“We are going to be transparent. We are going to be fair. We are going to be just to all of them (aspirants). They are party members and the party has guidelines that guide what we’re going to do.
“We are going to do everything in accordance with the constitution of the party and Electoral Act. So they don’t have anything to fear,”he noted.
Also speaking, co-chairman of the committee and governor of Kogi state, Ahmed Ododo said with the calibre of its membership, the panel has all it takes to deliver on the mandate of screening aspirants who would lead the party effectively and efficiently.
Ododo said the exercise is not just about APC but the country and thanked all members for already demonstrating the capacity to justify the confidence reposed in them, adding that whatever they do would stand for generations to come.
“Mine is to appreciate all of you for laying a very good foundation for us to learn from you. I was shocked when I sighted Distinguished Senator Ken Nnamani and others. It is a very good example for us that this is a selfless service to our party and nation. This is not about APC but for the country.
“Whatever we do now will be for generations to come, which I’m one of the beneficiaries today. I want to appreciate you for coming to show us the way. You have passed through this very route and you know how tough it is,” he added.
End.
